Humming bee breath
If you feel dizzy, hear ringing in your ears or start feeling anxious, stop and breathe the way you normally do. Safety and limits
Headphones help here, but only with a very quiet background 🎧.
What it works with: the vibration of the sound moves attention out of thoughts and into the body. While the hum lasts, attention has something to hold on to — and the noise inside quiets down.
Rest the tip of the tongue against the palate or the upper teeth.
Where to focus: breathe with the belly. Gather your attention at the point between the eyebrows.
How to breathe: a smooth inhale through the nose for two seconds — then, on the exhale, close the lips softly and make a steady "mmm" for ten seconds. The sound should be like the hum of a beehive. Don't try to make it loud.
Feel the vibration in the lips, the face, the throat and the chest. Let the sound become the anchor for your attention. When the exhale ends, move straight into the next calm inhale.
When to skip it
- ear pain or pressure
- a badly blocked nose
